Estate and income tax planning for clients of moderate wealth in light of the expiring exemption. Issues discussed will include the Sunset Provisions, basis step-up considerations, avoiding donor remorse after gifting, and planning for single and married couples.
2. Asset Protection Planning Basics and How They Integrate with Estate Planning Presented by Hillel Presser, The Presser Law Firm
Discussion will explore why asset protection is so important, including how to protect your assets while living and through your estate plan.
3. Using DAPT’s to Take Advantage of the Current Exemption Presented by Seth Kaplan, Meltzer Lippe
Program will discuss (I) planning for clients who want to use their exemption and still have access to their assets, (II) the negatives of SLAT’s including divorce, premature death, and tax issues, and (III) use of favorable trust jurisdictions for administrative flexibility, and greater protection from fraudulent conveyances, for fiduciaries and for assets.
